WTL FAQ

What the hell is this?
The World Tecmo League was founded in January 2001. The league is all about the game of Tecmo Super Bowl. It can be played online through an emulator called NESticle. The game files are called roms. For more emulator info, head to Zophar.

What version of Tecmo Super Bowl is used?
It's the original Tecmo Super Bowl for NES.

How do I play online?
Tecmotimes made a nice writeup on this a long time ago here.

Can I be in your league?
Not right away, unless you have proven that you are ready to play competitively online and are online fairly regularly.

How do I get a team?
Become active in other leagues that need players more badly than WTL. They are all out there, it's just a matter of finding them. Please do not ask Zach or Bob which ones to join. Also, it helps to become active on the Puretecmo.com message boards.

What's up with all the funny team names?
WTL owners can pick any team name they choose, as long as it is from a current or past NFL franchise. Yes, the Tonawanda Kardex was really an NFL team.

Do you use real players?
Yes. For a list of ratings, check the Rosters page.

So you guys have a rookie draft?
Not really. Trying to rate rookies before they play in the NFL is ridiculous. Drafts will be held as needed, usually after players are re-rated.

Do players get better after each season?
Yes. The WTL does periodical re-rates of all players.

Why is the home team listed first on the schedule page (Home Team v. Away Team)?
Only the original creators of the game can answer that one.
